Wildlife Dept. Install Cameras, Cage Trap Amid Leopard Sighting Near Badamwari, Srinagar

Srinagar: The wildlife department installed sensor-based cameras and a cage trap near Badamwari Park in Srinagar city on Tuesday evening following reports of a leopard being spotted by a ninth-grade student.ย 

"We have not found any foot impressions, marks, faecal matter, or other evidence on the ground. However, as a precautionary measure, we have set up camera traps and cages to address the situation," confirmed a senior wildlife official.

The official confirmed that apart from the studentโ€™s testimony, no other substantial evidence has been found indicating the presence or movement of the leopard in question.

Notably, after reports of a leopard sighting near In Badamwari Park on Monday evening, Srinagar police advised residents to remain indoors and avoid venturing out unnecessarily.
