Samba: Citing enhanced security arrangements ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, the Senior Superintendent of Police in Samba has ordered increased patrolling and surveillance along possible infiltration routes, as well as the establishment of checkpoints at vulnerable locations.
The directive was issued after Home Minister Amit Shah directed the Lieutenant Governor and the military’s top brass to intensify vigilance and take stringent action against militancy following a series of attacks in the Jammu and Chenab regions.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Samba) Vinay Kumar chaired a joint security review and directed officials to maintain heightened alertness, promote teamwork, and share real-time intelligence.
Station House Officers and supervisory officers were instructed to prioritize the verification of hotels, restaurants, lodging facilities, tenants, and laborers from outside the border areas of the region.
Moreover, officers were tasked with conducting a census of dhabas on highways, areas surrounding lodging centers, and langer sites.
