Srinagar, Sept 12: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted search operations at seven locations across Kashmir in connection with a case involving an alleged “cross-border terror conspiracy”, officials said.
The searches were conducted at two locations each in Kulgam and Sopore and three in Bandipora, with NIA teams assisted by local police and security personnel.
“The searches are part of an investigation into an alleged cross-border terror conspiracy involving Pakistan-based handlers and a network of local over-ground workers (OGWs) suspected of providing logistical and other support to infiltrated militants,” an official said.
The official said the case originated from FIR No. 0024/2026 registered at Police Station Zakoora in Srinagar and was subsequently re-registered by the NIA as RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU.
The case has been registered under Section 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act, 1959, and Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, the official said.
Further details regarding the searches and any recoveries made during the operations are awaited.
