Baramulla, Aug 9: Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday attached 12 kanals of land worth Rs 69.82 lakh under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with a 2008 militancy-linked case.
The attachment was carried out pursuant to an order issued by the Special NIA Court in Sopore in connection with Case FIR No. 02/2008 registered under provisions of the UAPA, EIMCO and the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), police said.
“Legal action has been taken in a 2008 militancy-linked case and property worth Rs 69.82 lakh was attached under court order,” a police official said.
The attached property comprises 12 kanals, or around 1.5 acres, of land belonging to accused Parvaiz Ahmad Famda, a resident of Kawhar Bala in the Chandoosa area of Baramulla, the official said.
Police said the action was taken as part of the ongoing legal proceedings in the case.
The official further said that an arrest warrant has also been obtained against another accused in the case from the NIA Court in Sopore.
