Anantnag: Senior politician Muzaffar Beigh and his wife, Safina Beigh, have reunited with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the 8th death anniversary of the PDP founder, late Mufti Mohammad Syed.
The rejoining ceremony took place in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district with Beigh officially rejoining the party amidst the presence of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and other key party leaders during a commemorative function, attended by thousands of people.
Expressing his steadfast support, Beigh said, “PDP still has a pivotal role to play to pull out the people of Jammu and Kashmir from the vortex of hopelessness and despair.”
“Will stand shoulder to shoulder with Mehbooba Mufti all along my life, he said adding that his two daughters are among the staunchest supporters of Mehbooba Mufti.
Notably, Beigh, a co-founder of the PDP in the late 1990s, assumed the role of the party’s patron following the demise of Mufti Sayeed in 2016.
In 2020, Beigh, formerly the deputy chief minister, resigned from the party, sparking speculation about his potential affiliation with the People’s Conference.
Beigh’s return to the PDP holds significant weight, especially considering its timing—less than four months ahead of the impending Lok Sabha elections.
