Srinagar, Nov. 7, 2024: Tensions flared in the J&K Legislative Assembly on Thursday as BJP legislators clashed with treasury members over a resolution supporting the restoration of Article 370, leading to a chaotic session and the forced ejection of several BJP members from the chamber.

The ongoing protests, which began yesterday, led to the House being adjourned once again after BJP legislators disrupted proceedings by storming toward the Well, with the Speaker instructing Marshals to remove any members who entered the Well.

"Remove anyone entering the Well of the House," ordered the Speaker, who denounced the disruption, saying, "This is not a fish market; this is the Legislative Assembly."

Among those marshalled out were BJP MLAs, including R S Panthania, as other BJP members continued shouting demands.

Food Minister Satish Sharma launched a scathing response, accusing the BJP of disregarding Jammu's economic struggles. “We’re only speaking the BJP’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’—Jammu’s youth are unemployed, the economy is in shambles, and BJP remains indifferent,” Sharma remarked, challenging the opposition’s stance.

Adding to the criticism, NC MLA from Gurez, Nazir Gurezi, argued that the BJP's actions reflected a lack of concern for Jammu's progress. In a heightened moment, BJP MLA Shagun Parihar climbed onto a table in the Well to amplify his protest.

The uproar escalated as treasury MLAs countered with chants of their own, declaring, “Jammu Kashmir ki awaz kya? 370 aur kya?” echoing their stance on Article 370’s restoration.

The House has been adjourned until tomorrow, as it was yesterday.

Earlier, the NC government passed a resolution for the restoration of Article 370, with BJP MLAs stating they would not allow the House to function if the resolution was not withdrawn.
