Srinagar, November 20, 2024: Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma announced on Wednesday that residents of the region would receive an enhanced ration quota and 12 gas cylinders as a New Year’s gift.

Addressing reporters in Srinagar, Sharma assured that winter arrangements were firmly in place, including the stocking of essential supplies.

He mentioned the administration’s readiness to handle any unforeseen challenges during the harsh season.

“All essentials have been stocked, but vigilance remains crucial to tackle any emergencies,” he said.

Sharma also touched on the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, describing it as a key priority for the administration.

“Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has personally met senior leaders in New Delhi. I believe Prime Minister Modi is keen on restoring statehood, and other issues will be resolved following this restoration,” he said.

Acknowledging gaps in governance created over the past 11 years, Sharma sought an 11-month period to address the deficiencies. “The administrative officers are competent, but certain gaps need to be filled,” he stated, committing to improving governance efficiency.
