Ranchi, 23 November 2024: Hemant Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance has swept the Jharkhand Assembly elections, winning 54 seats, well above the majority mark of 41.
Reports indicate that party workers celebrated as the alliance decisively outpaced the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led bloc, which secured 29 seats.
The elections, held in two phases on November 13 and 20, witnessed a record voter turnout of 68 percent on November 20—the highest in Jharkhand's electoral history.
This victory marks n important gain for the JMM-led coalition compared to the 2019 elections, when the alliance won a total of 47 seats—30 for the JMM, 16 for the Congress, and one for the RJD.
Hemant Soren, who became Chief Minister after the 2019 elections, is set to retain his position with this strong mandate.
