Jammu, April 6 — The Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday said it shot dead an individual attempting to cross the ‘international border’ from Pakistan in the Ranbir Singh (RS) Pura sector of Jammu district on Friday night.
A BSF spokesperson said troops observed suspicious movement near the border and spotted a person crossing into Indian territory.
“Despite being challenged, the individual did not stop and continued advancing,” the spokesperson said.
According to the BSF, the individual was shot after repeated warnings went unheeded.
The force described the action as necessary due to a perceived threat.
The identity and intent of the person are yet to be established.
The BSF said a protest has been lodged with the Pakistan Rangers over the incident.
