More Factions Pay Allegiance to India Amid Raids, Crackdown

Srinagar, March 27 — Dozens of premises were raided on Thursday, with several organizations cutting ties with separatist groups and pledging allegiance to India as the Government of India continues intensifying its crackdown against separatism across Jammu and Kashmir.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the developments, stating that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, separatism in Kashmir is nearing its end.

As part of this shift, two more Hurriyat-affiliated groups—J&K Tahreeqi Isteqlal and J&K Tahreek-I-Istiqamat—renounced separatism, following similar moves by the J&K People's Movement and J&K Democratic Political Movement earlier this week.

“Another great news from Kashmir Valley. Two more groups affiliated with the Hurriyat, namely J&K Tahreeqi Isteqlal and J&K Tahreek-I-Istiqamat, have discarded separatism and reposed their trust in the new Bharat built by PM Shri @narendramodi Ji. Under the Modi government, separatism is breathing its last, and the triumph of unity is echoing across Kashmir," Amit Shah said in a post on 'X'.

These developments come after the Government of India recently banned the Awami Action Committee (AAC), led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and the Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM), headed by Masroor Abbas Ansari, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, for five years, accusing them of promoting armed resistance in Kashmir.

Following the ban, Jammu and Kashmir Police registered fresh FIRs against individuals associated with JKIM. In Baramulla, police booked members of the group and conducted raids at multiple locations, including the residences of Bashir Ahmad Tota, leader of the banned J&K Peoples League.

Amid the crackdown, the family of JK Salvation Movement (JKSM) patron Zaffar Akbar Bhat also publicly distanced itself from the Hurriyat, declaring allegiance to the Constitution of India and warning of legal action against any attempt to associate them with separatist factions.

According to the document, Neelofer Akbar Bhat, wife of Zaffar Akbar Bhat, stated that she, her husband, their children, and the JKSM have no connection or affiliation with either faction of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) or any other entity pursuing a separatist agenda.

The statement warned that any attempt to associate their names with the APHC or its factions would lead to legal consequences.
