Srinagar/Shopain: Rains continued across Kashmir valley for the third consecutive day on Saturday, accompanied by hailstorms that wreaked havoc in several areas of South Kashmir’s Shopian district, damaging crops and apple orchards.
According to reports, hailstorms struck several areas of Shopian district, including Sugoo, Tharina, Molu, Dangerpora, and others.
Meanwhile, Mukhtar Ahmad, Director of the Meteorological Department (MeT), stated that the weather is expected to remain generally dry from tomorrow until April 25, although isolated afternoon thundershowers cannot be ruled out.
Furthermore, the forecast predicts generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder in many places from April 26-27.
The MeT department has advised farmers to resume farm operations after April 21.
Moreover, the Srinagar-Jammu highway was restored for vehicular movement after being closed for hours due to a mudslide at Mehad, Ramban, and shooting stones at Kishtwari Pathar, Banihal yesterday.
Traffic was allowed to ply in the late afternoon after the road was cleared.
