Rajouri, Sept 13: Two minor sisters died after being bitten by a snake while sleeping at their home in Manma Barmari village of Kalakote subdivision in Rajouri district on Sunday, officials said.
The deceased have been identified as Amiba, 5, and Amiza, 3, both residents of Rajouri.
An official said the sisters were sleeping in a room along with other family members when a snake appeared on the bed and bit them.
“Both children were immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment. However, they succumbed to their injuries,” the official said.
The incident has left the family and local residents in shock.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and further proceedings are underway.
