Youth Who Snatched Rifle Brought Back With Family’s Help

Srinagar: Hours after a youth snatched a rifle from a CRPF trooper in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police on Sunday said that the youth has been brought back with the assistance of his family. 

“With the assistance of family, Police brought back Irfan Bashir Ganie alias soba Ganie, 25, son of Bashir Ahmad and a resident of Below, Pulwama along with an AK-47 rifle which he snatched from a CRPF personnel today morning,” Police said while quoting ADGP said. 
 
“Investigation going on. We appreciate the role of family," it added. 
 
Earlier in the day, police said ‘suspected militants‘ snatched a rifle from the paramilitary CRPF soldier at around 11:45 am at Rajpora town in the district, officials said.
 
Soon after the incident, police and CRPF cordoned off the area and started searches in the area. 
 
Later, Police notified that the snatcher was a civilian.
