Nine Shopian Residents Arrested Under PSA, Shifted to Jammu Jails

SrinagarAt least 9 persons from south Kashmir’s Shopian district have been booked under Public Safety Act and shifted to different District Jails of Poonch, Rajouri and Kathua of Jammu region.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that PSA warrants were issued by District Magistrate Shopian against 9 suspects who are the natives of different hamlets of Shopian district.

Among these 9 persons 3 have been shifted and lodged at District Jail Rajouri,  identified as Sameer Ahmad Malla of Maldera Zainpora, Muzamil Ahmad Dar of Rai Kapren and Muhammad Iqbal Ganaie, a resident of Chitragam village and two more have been shifted to District Jail Poonch – identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat of Maldera Zainpora and Rouf Ahmad Bhat of Sofipora Zainpora.

Four others Junaid Haroon Rashid of Vehil, Waseem Ahmad Ganaie of Meemander Shopian, Irfan Ahmad Kutay of Chotipora village and Jahangir Ahmed Malik of Kilora Shopian shifted to District Jail Kathua.

Pertinently, scores of civilians have been arrested following the recent killings of civilians in parts of Kashmir Valley.
