Shopian: Militants have managed to escape from the Shopian encounter (military operation) even as forces installed lights and the cordon has also been tightened in Chakoora village of south Kashmir.
Notably, the operation erupted this evening and was launched by a joint team of J&K police, Army, and CRPF (central reserve police force) after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
As per reports, two to three militants were trapped at the site.

A police official said that after the initial exchange of fire, no fresh contact was established.
“Lights have been installed lights while the cordon has been also tightened to ensure militants don’t escape,” he said.
