Kulgam: A 25-year-old local youth working with the Indian army has mysteriously disappeared from his hometown in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. His family is deeply concerned and fears that he may have been kidnapped by local militants operating in the region.
Identified as Javed Ahmad Wani, an Indian Army personnel, was reportedly posted in Leh (Ladakh) and had returned home on leave when he went missing around 8 pm on Saturday. His car was found in Paranhall later last evening, officials said.
In the past, Kashmiri militants have been known to target and attack locals working for the Jammu and Kashmir Police or the army, considering their service as a betrayal to the cause they advocate.
The family of the missing army man has made a heartfelt appeal for his safe release, and even expressed their determination to ensure that he does not return to army service, intending to safeguard his future and avoid any further risks.
“Please return my son, I will not let him join the duty,” his mother was heard saying in the video.
Kashmir police have registered a case and arrested some suspects to track down the missing man.
“A search operation is underway,” Police added.
