Pirpanchal: An encounter (military operation) broke out between militants and forces in Kesari village of Kandi area in Rajouri district of Pir Panchal region on Friday, police said.
A joint team of Police, Army’ and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.
During the Cordon and Search Operation in Kesari area, the contact got established between Militants and forces with heavy gun fire from both sides is going on, he said.
As per sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
They said they are presumably the militants involved in ambush attack on army truck in Tota Gali area of Bhata Dhurian – Bhimber Ghati sector of Poonch., which killed five army personnel.
This is the third operation in J&K in the past 72 hours.
Notabaly, two local militants were killed in North Kashmir’s Pattan and two unidentified militants were killed along LOC Line of control in Kupwara.
