In the ongoing escalation of the Israel-Palestine conflict, the death toll has surged, with 232 Palestinians and 200 Israelis being killed since Saturday morning.
As per fresh reports, Israel’s military launched an attack on the residence of a senior Hamas leader in Gaza with Israel’s military regaining control over the Re’im military base near Gaza.
The Israeli military said that fighting is ongoing in 22 locations near Gaza.
While Hamas declared that it has taken ‘tens’ of Israeli generals and troopers hostage in Gaza, two more Palestinians were killed in clashes with Israeli troops in the West Bank.
In Gaza, severe health repercussions are being reported as Israel halts electricity supply in the besieged strip.
The Hamas attack comes after thousands of settlers in recent days carried out provocative tours of the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.
The group running the besieged enclave said its surprise, large-scale operation was in response to the desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and increased settler violence.
International Reactions
In response to the intensifying situation, Turkey has called on both Israel and Palestine to exercise restraint. The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Israel’s self-defence measures, while the UAE has called for an immediate ceasefire, seeking to end the “violence.”
Saudi Arabia has also weighed in, stating that it is closely monitoring the escalating situation, underlining the significance of the developments in the region.
Meanwhile, Iran has declared its support for Hamas’ attack on Israel, with celebrations of Hamas’s attack being reported in the country.
