Srinagar: Ahead of the G20 meeting in Kashmir’s capital Srinagar, the government forces along with J&K police killed six militants in four military operations for four consecutive days during which five army personnel also lost their lives in the restive Kashmir’s Poonch-Rajouri region.
On Wednesday, May 3; Army said that an infiltration bid was foiled when two unidentified militants were killed along the line of control in the Pichnad area of Machil in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Next day, two local militants from south Kashmir’s Shopian were killed in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A day later, on Friday, heavy gun fire between militants and forces was reported in Pir Panchal region’s Rajouri district. Later, Indian army said five personnel were killed after militants used an explosive during the operation.
Today, in the ongoing Rajouri operation, one unidentified militant has been killed and one local militant was slain in north Kashmir’s Kunzer.
India took over the presidency of the G20 (an economic cooperation bloc comprised of 19 countries and the European Union) in December 2022. It is expected to host a total of 215 meetings across 55 locations this year.
The G20 meeting in Kashmir is the first major international event since the Govt of India revoked its autonomous status on 5 August 2019.
