Republican senators in the US Congress have threatened the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan KC over arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior military officers, Al-Quds Al-Arabi reports.
According to reports, they have personally targeted him, his family, and his court staff, and asked him to refrain from issuing arrest warrants.
The senators threatened the British lawyer by saying, “If you target Israel, we will target you.”
“Sanctions will be imposed on you, your staff and associates, and you will be banned from entering the United States. You are being warned,” reads the letter obtained by Zeteo website.
The letter is said to have been sent on 24 April.
The people who signed the statement mentioned that if the ICC (International Criminal Court) gives orders to arrest Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders, it could be seen as a danger to Israel's independence, as well as the independence of the United States. This could result in severe penalties.
