Kabir Nagar: Two men riding a two-wheeler opened fire at the house of a property dealer in the Kabir Nagar area of northeast Delhi, following repeated extortion calls by a local criminal demanding ₹10 lakh, according to the police.
The duo fired three to four rounds before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, the police confirmed.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey stated that the Welcome police station received a report of firing on Gali No. 1, Kabir Nagar, around 9 pm on Monday.
"We have registered a case under sections 308(4) and 125/3(5) of the newly introduced Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 27 of the Arms Act," he said.
"Our team is currently reviewing CCTV footage and has activated our human intelligence network to identify and apprehend both the extortionist and the individuals involved in the shooting," he added.
