Kathua, Jan 07 – Authorities in Jammu’s Kathua district detained two, including an overground worker (OGW), under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) on Tuesday, according to Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The detained identified as Mohd Abass from Dher village in Billawar and Farman Ali from Gota Rahua village in Marheen, were shifted to the high-security Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu following their PSA arrest, according to a police spokesperson.
“Abass, an active OGW, has been involved in various illegal activities, while Ali, known for his criminal activities related to bovine smuggling, faces multiple charges.”
Police said that five FIRs under different sections of the Indian Penal Code have been registered against Ali at the Rajbagh police station since 2019.
Both were placed under PSA detention based on dossiers prepared by the police, aiming to curtail their unlawful activities. The detentions followed orders from the District Magistrate of Kathua, the spokesperson added.
