Srinagar, 2 January 2025: Police arrested six persons in separate operations across Kashmir, recovering contraband, including cannabis and prescription drugs.
In Srinagar, police intercepted Javid Ahmad Lone near JVC Hospital Bemina, recovering 44 grams of charas (hash). Separately, in Nowgam, Reyaz Ahmed Shah was caught with 39 kilograms of cannabis powder hidden in nylon bags.
In Ganderbal, police at Harran crossing stopped a Tata Mobile vehicle driven by Zafar Bashir Bhat. A search revealed 40 strips of SpasmoProxyvon-Plus, totaling 320 tablets. The vehicle was seized, and Bhat was arrested.
Baramulla police made two arrests: Mubashir Ahmad Bhat was caught with 121 grams of charas at Janbazpora, while Mohd Rafiq Awan was found carrying 4.2 kilograms of cannabis powder at Laghama-Garkote crossing.
In Handwara, Hilal Ahmad Tantray was apprehended during a checkpoint operation at Kuhroo Bridge with 55 grams of charas.
Cases have been registered under relevant laws, and investigations are underway. Authorities encouraged the public to report drug-related activities and assured stringent action against offenders.
