Srinagar: Amid a dry weather forecast until May 25, night temperatures increased but remained below normal at most places across the Kashmir region on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to details shared by the meteorological department, Kashmir's capital Srinagar recorded a low of 10.5°C, compared to 9.5°C the previous night, which is 0.1°C below normal.
Qazigund recorded a minimum of 8.0°C, compared to 7.0°C the previous night, 1.2°C below normal for the gateway town of the Kashmir Valley.
Pahalgam recorded a low of 4.6°C, compared to 2.6°C the previous night, which is 0.5°C below normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.
Kokernag recorded a minimum of 9.1°C, compared to 6.6°C the previous night, which is 0.2°C below normal.
In north Kashmir, Gulmarg recorded a minimum of 8.4°C, compared to 3.8°C the previous night, which is 2.9°C above normal for the world-famous skiing resort.
Kupwara recorded a minimum of 7.3°C, compared to 6.5°C the previous night, which is 2.3°C below normal.
Jammu recorded a low of 21.0°C, compared to 18.8°C the previous night, which is 2.5°C below normal.
Pir Panchal’s Banihal recorded a low of 10.6°C, Batote 14.3°C, and Chenab Valley’s Bhaderwah logged 9.8°C.
Regarding the forecast, a MeT official said that mainly dry weather is expected until May 17.
From May 18-19, cloudy weather with light rain/thunder is expected at many locations in the afternoon for a brief period, he said.
“From May 20-25, dry weather is expected again. Overall, no wet weather activity is expected until May 25,” he added.
