14 Resolutions, Including Statehood, Illegal Mining, to Be Moved in J&K Assembly

Srinagar, March 27 — A total of 14 private member resolutions, including three seeking the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and one calling for a ban on heavy machines for mining, will be introduced during the second part of the budget session next month.
 
PDP legislator Waheed-Ur-Rehman Para will move the mining resolution, seeking a complete ban on the use of heavy machines such as LNTs, JCBs, and cranes for sand extraction, riverbed mining, and other mining activities.
 
On April 7, NC member Qaisar Jamshaid Lone will introduce a resolution urging the GOI to restore statehood immediately, while his party colleague Hilal Akbar Lone will press for fulfilling the Prime Minister’s promise of restoring it. Independent member Shabir Ahmad Kullay will also seek full statehood restoration.
 
Other resolutions include NC’s Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Mir demanding improved healthcare in rural areas and Ali Mohammad Sagar seeking the regularization of ‘Rehbar-e-Janglat’ (forest guides). 
 
On April 9, NC’s Ajaz Ahmad Jan will push for a separate administrative structure for the Pir Panjal region, and Bashir Ahmad Veeri will call for an end to unscientific riverbed mining.
 
BJP’s Rajiv Jasrotia will propose tunnel construction projects in Kathua district, while Independent member Rameshwar Singh will seek a holiday extension for parts of Kathua during the Kailash Kund Yatra. 
 
NC’s Sajad Shaheen will demand the regularization of 18 residential colonies in Jammu district, and Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Mir will press for solutions to the unemployment problem among educated youth in the region.
