Srinagar, March 27 — Smart City buses are operating across Srinagar on pivotal routes for Shab-e-Qadr, facilitating the movement of worshippers attending night-long prayers at major mosques and shrines, Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) announced.

SSCL CEO Dr. Owais Ahmed said e-bus services will run till late hours on Shab-e-Qadr (the 27th night of Ramadan) to facilitate worshippers attending prayers at major mosques and shrines, including Jamia Masjid Srinagar and Dargah Hazratbal.

“Public transport, especially Smart City e-buses, will be available till late hours, ensuring worshippers can travel conveniently,” Ahmed said, adding that the service will cover major locations hosting night-long prayers.

He added that routine transport services will continue on Jumat-ul-Vida (the last Friday of Ramadan), while additional e-buses will be deployed on Eid-ul-Fitr morning to assist people traveling for congregational prayers.

“More buses will be available in the early hours on Eid morning, and services will be adjusted based on demand after the prayers,” he stated.

Ahmed, who also heads the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), said sanitation and water supply measures have been enhanced at mosques.

“Dedicated teams, working with local mosque committees, will ensure cleanliness and provide assistance, while backup water tankers will be deployed to prevent shortages.”
