Srinagar/Ramban: Fresh land sinking in the Parnote area have forced the closure of Jammu-Srinagar highway with local residents stating that the road closure is severely impacting connectivity to several villages.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Basheer-Ul-Haq Choudary, informed that since yesterday, the land has started sinking again, prompting us to close the Ramban-Gool road
“Ramban-Gool road was temporarily reopened to monitor the land’s stability and ensure connectivity, which had been successful for about a month but the land has started sinking again,” he said.
Choudary reassured that an alternative route via Digdol-Sumbal-Sangaldan-Gool and railway connectivity remain operational, ensuring continued access.
Earlier, more than 50 houses were damaged due to land subsidence in Ramban, with reports of land sinking emerging from the Shivalik hills as well.
