KPDCL Penalizes 2,100 Consumers Over ‘Low Consumption’

Srinagar: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) announced on Friday that it had penalized 2,100 consumers for allegedly recording low electricity consumption and engaging in power theft.
 
The corporation stated, "We issued 94 notices in May to consumers in the Rajbagh area of Srinagar who were found involved in power pilferage." 
 
KPDCL warned consumers to avoid such practices, stating, "Heavy penalties will be imposed on those involved in electricity theft."
 
Additionally, KPDCL said, "We have served 94 notices in May 2024 to consumers found indulging in electricity theft. A total of ₹6.05 lakhs has been recovered in penalties from these cases."
