Srinagar/Kathua: The Administrative Council, chaired by Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of J&K, approved the creation of 342 posts in various categories for the High-Security Prison at Dhambra Mahanpur village in Kathua District which will accommodate 240 high-risk prisoners.
Managed by the Police Housing Corporation, the prison is being built at a cost of Rs 87.81 crores and the construction is expected to be completed by February 2025.
This facility will incarcerate persons, maintain public order, prevent future crimes, and help de-crowd existing jails.
The meeting was attended by Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor; Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; and Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor.
