Five Local Militants Killed In Kulgam’s Samno

Kulgam: Five local militants were killed in Samno military operation in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday.

The operation was launched by Kulgam Police and Indian military’s 34RR on Thursday and recommenced on Friday morning.  

In a press conference, DIG South Kashmir Rayees Mohammad Bhat identified the slain militants as as Yasir Bilal Ahmad Bhat, also known as Humais, son of Bilal Ahmad Bhat, resident of KH Raina Wanpoh; Danish Hameed, son of Abdul Hameed; Ubaid Ahmad Padder, son of Wali Mihd Padder, both residents of Chakoora Shopian; Sameer Sheikh, son of Farooq Ahmad, resident of Chak Cholend Shopian; and Hanzal Yaqoob Shah, son of Mohd Yaqoob Shah, resident of Rawalpora Shopian.

All the militants were associated with the Lashkar-i-Toiba outfit, he said.

The DIG further stated that these slain militants were involved in numerous attacks on police, SFs, and civilians.

“They were also implicated in several attacks on minority pickets. Sameer Farooq and Danish Hameed, among the deceased militants, were responsible for the attack on Pandith Sonu Bhat of Chotigamz Shopian,” the officer said.
