Baramulla, Jan 11: Baramulla police arrested three persons, including a surrendered militant, in connection with a grenade attack on the 163 Territorial Army camp in Hamray Pattan on January 7, officials said Saturday.

Superintendent of Police (Operations), Feroz Yehya, said the grenade, hurled at 7:40 pm, struck the Military Intelligence structure, causing damage but no casualties.

“An immediate investigation led to the arrest of the accused, including one identified as the mastermind, who was also wanted in a narco-terror case,” he said.

During the operation, a hand grenade, an AK-series rifle, a pistol, 256 AK rounds, and 21 pistol rounds were recovered.

Yehya noted that the incident posed a challenge to trust-building measures for reintegrating surrendered militants, warning of stringent action against such acts.

“Further investigations and arrests are expected as police intensify their efforts to maintain peace in the region,” he added.
