Srinagar/Mumbai, 23 January 2025: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has proposed establishing a temple in Srinagar, Kashmir.
The proposal was announced on January 15 during the inaugural ceremony of the Sri Sri Radha Madan Mohanji Temple in Navi Mumbai's Kharghar area, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
ISKCON Trustee and President Sura Das formally appealed for land allocation and thanked the Prime Minister for his presence. “This project has been on my mind for years. I had even discussed it earlier with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, given that plots have been allocated to other religious organisations,” Das said.
He said that the initiative aims to serve humanity, transcending caste and creed, in alignment with the principles of universal love.
A formal request has been submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office, with Das expressing hope for government support in bringing the vision to life.
