Srinagar: Body of a 42-year-old woman was retrieved from river Lidder after she drowned to death while taking bath in Pahalgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district this afternoon.
Preliminary reports said that the woman drowned while she was taking bath in the river.
Some passersby informed the police as they spotted the body.
However, the body was shifted it to PHC Pahalgam for necessary medico-legal formalities.
A police official identified the deceased woman as Zareena Begum (42), wife Mohd Ashraf, resident of Amadwagad, Aishmuqam.
“The body continues to lie in mortuary at PHC Pahalgam. We have in the meantime initiated investigations to collect necessary details into the cause of her death”, the official further said.
