Jammu,Shopian, Anantnag, Bandipora:
Five soldiers and two militants were killed in four different encounters across Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, One in Poonch – Rajouri in the Jammu Division and three in Kashmir valley’s southern districts; Verinag in Anantnag and Tulran in Shopian also Hajin in Bandipora, North Kashmir.
A Defense Spokesperson told KNO that the militants have fled from Poonch to nearby Rajouri’s Bhangai village and the encounter is in process.

"They are frequently changing their positions. It is a dense forest and the troops are moving swiftly to avoid any further loss of life,” he said.
The encounter started on the intervening night of October 10 and 11 and an anti-militancy operation was launched by the army and police in Shahdara area near the Boundary of Poonch-Rajouri district of J&K.
“During the operation, militants opened a heavy volume of fire on the troops in which five soldiers including a JCO was killed.
In South Kashmir’s Tulran, Imamsahab area of Shopain, the gun battle is underway.
In the North Kashmir’s Bandipora, IGP Kashmir said the militant killed in Shahgund village of Hajin was involved in the recent civilian killing of Sumo Driver in Bandipora. He was identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar affiliated with LeT (TRF.)
The encounter took place barely a day after IGP kashmir said that they have solved the Shahgund, Bandipora killing case after busting a module in which four OGWs LeT (TRF) involved in the killing of Muhammad Shafi Lone alias Sonu were arrested.
While the deceased militant Imtiyaz Ah Dar alias Kotru was absconding and has joined militant ranks," IGP said earlier.
In Anantnag’s Verinag an unidentified militant was killed in Khagund area in which a cop identified as constable Javaid Ahmad also received a bullet wound in his hand.
A police spokesman said that Anantnag Police had gone to arrest an OGW (Over Ground Worker) militant namely Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohammad Bhat resident of Khahgund, Dooru.
“While the police party were laying cordon around the house, the hiding militants fired indiscriminately upon the police leading an encounter."
