Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday said two OGWs (Over Ground Workers) were arrested in Lolab area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
"Kupwara Police along with 28 RR apprehended two individuals namely Rashid Ahmad Peer, son of Ab Ahad Peer, resident of Tekipora, Lolab and Adil Hussain Shah, son of Gh Mohd Shah, a resident of Shat Muqam, Lolab, Police said in a statement.
"Both individuals were indulged in ‘anti-national’ activities and planning to join [militant] ranks, in order to revive [militancy] in the area besides providing active support to [militants]", reads the statement.

Police said the individuals came under their observation after checking their pro [militancy] activity on Social Media platform, the statement reads.
"Based on the inputs developed by Police, the duo have been put on questioning. During the course of investigation, incriminating material including posters, photographs, videos and contents of conversation with active [militants] and [militant] handlers were recovered from their mobile phones,” it reads.
An FIR No. 07/2022, under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Sogam against them & the investigation in the case is under progress.
"The timely joint efforts of security forces resulted in averting major incident in the area which has witnessed peace for the past two three years", the statement concludes.
