Two local militants were killed on Monday in an encounter (military operation) at Wandakpora area of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
They have been identified as Kaisar Rashid Koka, son of Ab Rashid Koka – resident of Tengpora, Kaigam and Ishaq Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Nabi Lone – resident of Lelhar, Pulwama.
Police in a statement said that a joint cordon & search operation was launched by Police, Army (55RR) and CRPF (130Bn) in the area.
As per police, they were affiliated with JeM.
"Kaiser Koka was a categorized terrorist and involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on Police/security forces and civilian atrocities," police statement said.
He was active since 2018.
"People are requested to cooperate with Police till the area at encounter site is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials, if any," the statement added.
