Srinagar: Woman among three person accused of Sextortion were arrested by police after a Budgam resident lodged a written complaint in the Police Station Shergarhi, Srinagar against a woman and three others for forging false sexual allegations and blackmailing, Officials said.
Sextortion is a crime in which a person or more than two persons extort money or sexual favours from someone by threatening to reveal evidence of their sexual activity.
The three persons were identified as Shaista Bashir AKA Saba- resident of Galwan pora, at present Narkara Budgam, Jahangir Ahmad Dar- resident of Pethpohru, Handwara and Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie- resident of Galwan pora, Hyderpora, at present, Narkara Budgam.
In a statement, Police said that on 27th September, Nazir Ahmad Rather son of Late Gh. Nabi Rather – resident of Dalwan -Chaar-e-Shareef, Budgam lodged a written complaint in Police Station Shergarhi to the effect that some days back, he received a call from one woman namely Saba and insisted him to meet for some work.
“He met her near Bakshi Stadium Srinagar and the said lady took him to her room at Reck Chowk area of Batamaloo and started levelling false allegations against him inside the room,” the statement said.
“In the meantime three other men (associates of the lady) forcibly entered the room and started making video,” the statement reads.
“Then she along with her accomplices started blackmailing him and he fell prey into a well-planned conspiracy of sextortion,” it said.
In this regard a case FIR No. 76/2022 U/S 34, 384, 120-B, 506 IPC was registered in Police Station Shergarhi and investigation was set into motion, Police added.
“There are some other victims of this gang and more arrests are expected in the instant case and investigation is going on,” the statement concludes.
