Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir police said the two foreign Militants killed in Jammu encounter on Friday were either from Afghanistan or Pakistan’s Khyber-Pokhtoon region and held two Kashmiri residents among four youth accused for ferrying them to Jammu.
More arrests are likely to be made in the case as investigations are on,” Jammu’s ADGP Mukesh Singh said.
Moreover, he said the two slains were speaking Poshtu language and initial investigations reveal that the duo were either Afghanis or from the Pakistan’s Khyber-Pokhtoon belt.
Addressing a press conference in Jammu, Mr. Mukesh said after investigations and analysing the Close Circuit Television Set (CCTVs) footages, it was understood that the two militants were picked up from South Kashmir’s Kokernag to Jammu’s Samba in a truck laden with vegetable crades by a Kashmiri youth identified as Bilal Ahmed Wagay.
“Investigations also suggested that other two Kashmiri brothers from Tral area identified as Shafiq Ahmed and Asif Ahmed who were working in a walnut factory in Narwal area which is close to Sujwan area were in touch with foreign Militants through Telegram application," he said.
“The role of another youth Iqbal from Dhamhal Hanjipora has also come to the fore," he added.
"So far, we have arrested Tral’s Shafiq and and Kokernag’s Iqbal and police is looking for other two involved," he informed.
He said that Bilal Wagay had reached Jammu on April 20 and helped the suicide attackers to travel from Samba to Sunjwan area.
The ADGP said that after interrogating Tral Youth Shafiq, it was revealed that the slains were not able to speak Urdu, Hindi, English but only Poshtu (Aghan Language.)
“This suggests that the fidayeens (suicide attackers) were either from Pakistan’s Khyber-Pokhtoonkha belt or Afghanis,” he said.
The Telegram group run by these Kashmiri youth was named as Pagal Jamaat,” the ADGP said.
The Jaish commander has been identified with code name Veer, ADGP added.
He said the JeM commander ‘Veer’ had informed Bilal Wagay and Shafiq that they have to receive two Jaish fidayeens in Jammu.
“The slain fidayeen were tasked to carry out massive strike in Jammu region which was foiled by our alert forces," he concluded.
An assistant sub-inspector of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was killed when the terrorists equipped with suicide vests and sophisticated weapons attacked a bus before being engaged and killed by the government forces in Jallabad locality of Sunjwan on Friday.
Nine personnel including two policemen, were also injured in the incident.
