Srinagar: Following overnight showers in Srinagar on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday, muddy water has inundated nearly half a dozen shops at the refurbished Polo View market.
The sudden inundating surprised shopkeepers and authorities alike, as it was not immediately clear how the shops got inundated.
Poloview market, President Haji Mohammad Ismail said that they have no iden about how the muddy water inundated inside a few shops in the market.
A team of officials visited the affected area to assess the situation. CEO of Srinagar Smart City, Athar Amir, confirmed that there was no apparent drainage failure in the market, and all the drains were found to be almost dry.
He stated, "We are looking into the issue, and it seems water has entered from the back side. I am here with my team to ascertain the facts."
The incident has caused concern among shop owners who suffered damage to their merchandise and property due to the muddy water’s entry.
Reportedly, the Polo view market was recently refurbished under the smart city project and inaugurated by LG Mannoj Sinha.
The re-decoration include installation of lights around the chinar trees and the use of empaneling tiles on streets.
