Pulitzer-winning Kashmiri photojournalist Sanna Irshad Mattoo has been barred from traveling abroad at Delhi International airport on Saturday despite holding a valid French visa.

Mattoo was going to Paris for a book launch and photography exhibition as one of 10 award winners of the Serendipity Arles grant 2020.

However, the immigration authorities at Delhi International Airport did not give her a reason for disallowing her to leave the country and instead told her that she could not travel internationally, reported The Wire. ย

In May 2022, Mattoo, a freelance photographer, won the Pulitzer Prize in the Feature Photography category for her work published by Reuters for the coverage of the COVID-19 crisis in India.

Before winning Pulitzer, Sanna was awarded a fellowship at the prestigious Magnum Foundation.
