Srinagar: Police arrested two bootleggers and seized 130 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday.
The accused were identified as Saral Sa, son of Sukhan Sa and Vikey Kumar, son of Raju Sa, both residents of Kalash Nagar- Nazimpur, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh.
“A police party from Police Station Baramulla led by SHO Baramulla, Inspector Showkat Ahmad under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla established a check post (naka) at Farooqi point Baramulla,” Police said.
During checking two persons were roaming in a suspicious manner and were stopped for checking.
However, both tried to flee from the spot but apprehended tactfully and 130 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from their possession”, police spokesperson said in a statement.
A case under relevant sections of the Excise Act has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and an investigation has been initiated.
