Baramulla: After unidentified militants killed a Sarpanch in Goshbugh area of Pattan, north Kashmir on 15 April, Police on Monday said the three local militants were arrested for the killing case.
“We received information from reliable sources that three suspects were involved in the killing of Manzoor Ahmad Bangoo, Goshbugh Pattan Sarpanch,” police said in a statement.
They have been identified as Noor Mohammad Yatoo, Mohammad Rafiq Parray Ashiq, Hussain Parray, residents of the same area.
The trio revealed that they were supported by an OGW identified as Mohammad Afzal Lone, who is presently in judicial custody, the statement reads.
As per police version, during investigation, the trio said it was the OGW Lone who motivated them into militancy.
“On OGWs direction, close aide Noor Mohammad Yatoo made two more people join militancy.”
“Yatoo had asked the duo to meet Lone personally. After a meet, the trio were counselled to set targets,” a police officer said.
“Following which two pistols, two hand grenades and two magazines with live bullets were delivered to them for killing Sarpanches of the Pattan area.”
“As the OGW Lone was arrested for Palhalan grenade blast case along with three other people, attacks were delayed until two local militants namely Umer Lone and Gulzar Ganie of Wussan Pattan, who had recently infiltrated back from (PaK) after training approached the trio for killing assignments.”
Subsequently, the officer said, after a recee for few days, the Sarpanch was killed.
On that particular day, Ashiq talked to militant Umer Lone through Facebook messenger and briefed him about the plan which the militants executed on April 15 by killing the Sarpanch in the orchards of Chanderhama Pattan.
“Upon further interrogation Yatoo revealed that he gave the arms ammunition to Umer Lone however more arms and few live rounds are still with him which are in a sealed box in his house,” the police officer stated.
So far 3 pistols, 2 grenades, 3 Magazines and 32 bullets have been recovered in this case, he added.
