Man Held With Four Kilograms Of Poppy Straw At Panzgam Check-Post In Awantipora

Awantipora: A Panzgam resident was arrested with four kilograms of Poppy Straw at Panzgam Crossing check-post in the Reshipora area of South Kashmirโ€™s Awantipora, district Pulwama on Sunday, police said.

โ€œA police party of Police Post Reshipora at a checkpoint established at Panzgam Crossing arrested a drug peddler identified as Habibullah Shah, son of Wali Mohd Shah โ€“ resident of Astanpora, Panzgam,โ€ Police said in a statement.

His age was not mentioned in the police statement.ย ย 

โ€œDuring search, four Kilograms of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession,โ€ the statement reads.

He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody, it further said.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 199/2022 under relevant sections of law been registered at Police Station, Awantipora and investigation has been initiated, it added.

In the statement, Police also urged community members to come forward with information about the drug peddlers of their areas.
