Kulgam: Government forces on Saturday called off the CASO (Cordon & Search Opeation) at Mishipora-Kujjar area of Yaripora hamlet in south Kashmir’s Kulgam after five days due to bad weather conditions, officials said.
“After killing of two local Hizb militants on Thursday, no fresh contact was established with militants during searches,” an official said.
The operation was called off due to inclement weather conditions, he said

The operation was launched on 14 June after specific inputs about the presence of militants and turned into an encounter (military operation) on 16 June during which two local militants were killed.
Police identified one of the slain as Zubair Sofi, resident of Mohanpora in Kulgam, however, another militant was not identified.
Police said that Sofi was involved in the killing of woman teacher Rajni Bala (Samba resident) on May 31.
Bala was shot in the head on the premises of the school in Kulgam’s Gopalpora area and succumbed to her injuries at a hospital, police said.
The killing of Bala was the second such killing of a Hindu employee in the district and the seventh targeted killing in May.
They further added that searches continued in the area for two more days, however, no fresh contact was established and finally due to bad weather conditions, the operation was called off on Saturday evening after 5 days.
