Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday attached (a legal term for seizing property) five residential houses in Srinagar that are allegedly being used for militancy purposes.
Earlier in March, police stated that immovable properties (of encounter sites) that were used to provide shelter to militants and also the houses where planning was hatched to attack government forces and civilians will be attached.
As per police, such houses are used as hideouts to plan attacks on government forces and civilians.

The residential houses were attached as per section 2(g) and section 25 of UAP Act, police said in a statement.
“Today on 21st June 2022, five residential Houses of wilful harbourers of militants were attached as per section 2(g) and section 25 of UAP Act. These are the houses where it has been proved beyond doubt that these houses were used for the purpose of militancy and the shelter, and harbour were voluntarily, knowingly given by the member(s) of the house. Many attacks on civilians and security forces were conspired and planned by militants while using these houses as hideouts,” the police statement reads.
Two houses have been attached (a legal term for seizure) in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Parimpora and one each in Panthachowk, Nowhatta and Zakoora respectively.
“Some more such houses have been identified and will be dealt with the full force of law, police said and appealed to people not to harbour or give shelter to militants, failing which it will be forced to take resort to attachment proceedings,” the statement added.
In case of any forced/coercive entry by militants into any house, the matter should be brought to the notice of police immediately, police said.
