Israel’s Parliament To Draft Death Penalty Law For Palestinian Prisoners

The Israeli Parliament, Knesset is set to discuss a controversial draft law regarding the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners, submitted by the Otzma Yehudit party.

The proposed law, supported by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “aims to reintroduce the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of killing.”

Israel abolished the death penalty in 1954, and the draft law requires three readings in the Knesset to become effective.

Palestinian officials report over 7,000 Palestinians, including women and children,are held in Israeli prisons.
