Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed concern about Israel’s actions in Gaza, stating they go "beyond the scope of self-defense." Wang called on the Israeli government to stop its collective punishment of the people of Gaza.
In discussions with his Saudi counterpart, he urged all parties to avoid escalating the situation and return to the negotiating table.
Wang also had a conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, where he called for an international peace conference and warned of the escalating Palestinian-Israel conflict.
He said China strongly opposes actions harming civilians and those violating international law.
Moreover, China’s Special Envoy on the Middle East, Zhai Jun, is set to visit the Middle East next week to address the Gaza crisis.
Reportedly, more than 329 Palestinians, including 724 children, were killed in Israeli air raids and nearly 8000 injured.
