Srinagar: Police on Saturday said a ‘Hybrid’ militant affliated with Lashkar-i-Toiba oufit was arrested in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
He has been identified as Mohd Iqbal Bhat, son of Gulzar Ahmad Bhat and a resident of Tilgam Payeen.
A pistol, magazine and seven rounds were recovered from his possession, as per police.

“On reliable input, a Joint party of Police and Army 29 RR established check post (naka) at Kreeri area during which a hybrid militant was apprehended,” police said in a statement.
“The hybrid has been actively involved in providing logistics support for militant activities and was in touch with Pakistani Terrorist Saifullah and Abu Zarar,” the statement reads.
“The module was responsible for various recent attacks on PRI (Panchayat) members and non-locals in addition the militant was actively involved in providing chemicals and other materials for carrying out an IED attack on National Highway between Narbal and Renji,” the police statement added.
“Interrogation of the apprehended militant is likely to give further inputs for future counter militancy operations,” the statement concluded.
‘Hybrid’ term was formed by police last year, According to police, Hybrids are sleeper cells who carry out attacks and live a normal life within the society.
