Gulmarg’s famous Rani Temple was gutted in a fire incident in the early hours of Wednesday morning, officials said.
The Maharani Temple, known as the royal temple of the Dogra rule, houses idols of Hindu deities Lord Shiva and Parvati.
Located on a hillock, it is visible from all corners of the meadows.
An official stated that around 3:50 AM, an emergency call was received, and fire tenders were dispatched to the site.
The fire was contained within 20 minutes; however, the roofing, interior paneling, and other infrastructure suffered damage.
It’s pertinent to mention that the temple, built by the wife of Maharaja Hari Singh in 1915, boasts Hindu-style architecture.
