Srinagar, November 7: The National Health Mission (NHM), Jammu and Kashmir, has sanctioned a 5 per cent annual increment for eligible contractual employees for the financial year 2026โ27, providing a salary revision to healthcare personnel working across the region.
The sanction, issued by Mission Director NHM J&K Athar Aamir Khan through Order No. 160 NHM J&K of 2026 dated November 7, covers contractual employees at the state, divisional, district and block levels, including those engaged under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) and various disease control programmes.
Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo announced the decision, saying the government had fulfilled its commitment to NHM employees.
Taking to X, Itoo said the increment recognised the dedication and contribution of the NHM workforce in strengthening healthcare delivery across Jammu and Kashmir.
โOur commitment to the welfare of healthcare workers remains steadfast. We will continue working towards a stronger, more responsive and inclusive healthcare system under the leadership of Honโble Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah,โ she said.
According to the order, the 5 per cent increment will be granted subject to completion of one year of qualifying service and satisfactory performance, with its effective date determined by the employeeโs service-completion timeline.
Employees who completed one year of service on or before March 31, 2026, will receive the increment with effect from April 1, 2026. Those completing one year between April 1 and September 30, 2026, will become eligible from October 1, 2026, while employees completing one year after September 30, 2026, will receive the increment from April 1, 2027.
The concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officers and Controlling Officers have been directed to verify qualifying service and performance before extending the benefit, in accordance with applicable NHM guidelines.
The decision follows approval of the NHM State Programme Implementation Plan (SPIP) 2026โ27 for Jammu and Kashmir by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on June 19, 2026. It also takes into account the State Health Societyโs Executive Committee meeting held on July 18 and the Health and Medical Education Departmentโs order dated November 6.
The latest sanction extends the existing annual increment provision for eligible NHM contractual personnel into the 2026โ27 financial year.
